Date:    5 - 6 March 2015

Venue: InterContinental Hotel Ballroom, Makati, Philippines

Amidst the worldwide decline of oil price, the NATURAL GAS SUMMIT, Series 3 will be held on March 5-6, 2015 at the InterContinental Hotel Ballroom, Makati, Philippines.

A Policy and Business Dialogue, this Summit is being held as the Philippines and other Asian nations enter an important phase of reviewing their energy roadmaps to address the share of natural gas.

Last March 2013, the embassies in the Philippines of 5 global players in the natural gas market - Norway, Russia, Netherlands, United Kingdom and Spain organized the first policy dialogue on natural gas in the Philippines in cooperation with the Department of Energy (DOE). They shared their in-country experiences and national policies on natural gas. The dialogue resulted in World Bank’s commissioning by the DOE to develop a master plan for developing natural gas in the Philippines.

As a follow up, the Natural Gas Summit in March 2014 expanded collaboration with other Southeast Asian countries. The 2014 Summit was organized by Leverage International in cooperation with the Department of Energy and in continuing collaboration with the five key countries which initiated this Summit. Natural Gas Summit 2014 brought together Government and Industry to shape the future share of natural gas in the country’s energy mix. Present and proposed legal considerations for development of the gas market were major parts of the agenda.

Theme: Natural Gas: The Fuel for Future Clean Energy

The Natural Gas Summit of 2015 is again being organized by Leverage International in cooperation with the Department of Energy with the participation of the five embassies that initiated the summit and the addition of new embassies who have expressed their support in pursuing further the natural gas development in the Philippines.

Amidst the worldwide decline of oil prices and the likely reduction in natural gas prices, the Philippines, as other Asian countries, enters an important phase of its economic growth with the need to map out its energy roadmap to sufficiently address its demand for natural gas. With the participation of natural gas players in the region, the occasion also provides the opportunity to review the energy security situation within ASEAN as embodied in the ASEAN Petroleum Security Agreement – Protocol.
